The main differences between the models from the technical specifications is that the DSi has a slightly bigger screen which makes it slightly longer and taller - however it is 12% thinner than the DS which could be good for smaller hands and fitting in pockets. When the battery runs out it won’t take as long to charge it up, however the DS does do better on time between charges with significantly longer battery life.
The new DSi won’t allow you to play your own gameboy advance games as it doesn’t come with the appropriate slot - however, with more games becoming avaliable for the DSi and the fact it has an SD card slot this could be a worthwhile loss. There are rumours on the internet that Nintendo will release the gameboy games via its DSiWare shop for download. This is quite likely - though I wouldn’t want to guess if this will be a paid feature or they’ll be released for free. If you’re a guitar hero fan than the fact that the new, DSi doesn’t come with a gameboy advance slot may be an issue. This is because many of the DS’ accessories use it, such as some of the Guitar Hero ones!
